Agenda for a BEAC Informational Meeting

The Agenda for BEAC Informational Meeting provides a model for an informational BEAC meeting. This section can be used to help you plan your own informational meeting. The documents in boldface can be found on the Ford PAS Web site. Prior to the meeting become familiar with BEAC Presentation: Introducing Ford PAS (updated 8/20/08), display copies of Ford PAS program news articles, and make enough copies of the other documents to distribute to attendees.

  1. Welcome, with Refreshments
    Welcome Ford PAS staff and students, current members of the BEAC, and interested members of the community.
  2. Introductions
    Have attendees briefly introduce themselves and describe their role in the Ford PAS program or the BEAC and/or their role in the community. Have attendees who may be interested in becoming involved with the program describe their reasons for coming to the informational meeting.
  3. Ford PAS Program Overview
    Give an overview of the Ford PAS program, including the Ford PAS approach to learning, the way the Ford PAS curriculum is structured, and the roles of program partners. BEAC Presentation: Introducing Ford PAS might be a useful guide for your presentation. Allow time for questions. Have Ford PAS teachers answer questions when appropriate. Invite attendees to learn more about Ford PAS by reading the (Coming soon) Ford PAS program news articles on display.
  4. Student Perspectives
    Have two or three students share their experiences with the program, providing examples of both in-class and out-of-class learning opportunities.
  5. The BEAC: An Opportunity for Partnership
    Describe the purpose of the BEAC, the roles and activities of BEAC members, and the opportunities that BEAC participation provides. BEAC Presentation: Introducing Ford PAS might be a useful guide for your presentation. Have current members of the BEAC contribute to this section. Allow time for questions. For more information about Ford PAS and the BEAC, be sure to refer attendees to the Ford PAS Web site.
  6. Specific Needs for Community Support
    Present the anticipated needs of the Ford PAS program for the coming semester and year. Distribute Coordinated Learning Experiences (CLEs) and the Coordinated Learning Experiences (CLEs) Chart, which has been customized by the coordinator for the school. Allow time for questions. Have Ford PAS teachers and staff and current members of the BEAC answer questions when appropriate.
  7. Community Resources
    Distribute a Community Resource Survey and stamped return envelope to attendees who are new to the program. Ask that they complete the survey and return it within a week.
  8. Closing Remarks
    Thank new members for attending, and describe the next steps. Include event announcements, such as the dates of the next BEAC meetings or a Ford PAS Launch Reception for the press.
